What Happens When You Drop a Kratom Capsule Into Stomach Acid?
After testing how capsules dissolve in plain water, soda, and even when poked with holes — we wanted to simulate what actually happens inside your body.
So we created our own DIY stomach acid test using a mix of vinegar and citric acid. The setup stayed the same: room temperature, magnetic stirring machine, and one capsule dropped in without any poking or cutting.
The result?
The capsule started to break down in under three minutes — noticeably faster than our water test, where it took closer to eight.
It’s not a perfect replication of stomach acid, but it gives a better sense of how kratom capsules might behave after you take them. And it raises a good question:
👉 Would it dissolve even faster if we poked holes like we did in the earlier test?

Traveling With Kratom: How to Pack for a Trip
Heading to Washington, D.C. for the American Kratom Association summit gave me a chance to put my travel routine to the test.
When it comes to traveling with kratom, I keep it simple:
- Capsules are my go-to. They’re sealed, easy to transport, and don’t draw unnecessary attention. No mess, no measuring, and no issues on the go.
- Honey sticks are another favorite. They’re discreet, individually sealed, and great for sharing or a quick boost.
While I love kratom powder, I usually leave it behind when flying. Loose powder, even when packed carefully, can sometimes create unnecessary problems—especially under cabin pressure. If you do bring powder, double-seal it to prevent any bursts or leaks in your bag.
A few key tips if you’re traveling with kratom:
- ✅ Always check the laws at your destination. Kratom is legal in most places, but a few states and cities still have restrictions.
- ✅ Keep everything sealed and clearly labeled. A fresh, unopened package looks more professional and can avoid unnecessary questions.
- ✅ Pack smart. Capsules and sealed sticks travel best, while powders need extra care.
Traveling with kratom is usually hassle-free with a little preparation. Plan ahead, and you’ll have no issues getting where you’re going.

To follow up our first two tests, we ran another simple experiment:
What happens when you drop a kratom capsule into soda?
Same setup—room temperature liquid, magnetic stirring machine—but this time, we used a can of ginger ale.
The reaction? Not great.
Bubbles formed fast, but the capsule just sat there. We waited. And waited. After 10 minutes, it was still mostly intact. Eventually, we gave up and moved on.
It was by far the slowest test we’ve done—slower than water, and way slower than the poked version.
So while the fizz might be fun, soda’s not helping your capsule break down anytime soon.
